Who is responsible

SEO Dons Ltd (company number 16766013, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ) publishes batterystoragequotes.co.uk and is the data controller for information collected through it. You can reach the controller through the contact form.

What this site is

batterystoragequotes.co.uk is an information site about home battery storage. It is not an installer. If you ask for quotes through a form on the site, the publisher replies to you by email. There is no installer partner at present, so your request is not passed on. If that changes, this notice and the form will say so before any request is shared.

What is collected

  • What you type into a form: your name, email address and postcode; and, only if you choose to give them, your phone number, type of home, electricity use, whether you have an electric car, heat pump or want backup, whether you own the home, when you might go ahead, how you might pay, and any message.
  • Page context: the address of the page the form was sent from, and, if you used the calculator on that page and then pressed its button, a one-line summary of the figures you entered (added to your message so the publisher can see what you have already worked out, and visible to you before you send).
  • The calculator: it runs in your browser and stores nothing. If you choose to use "Find my region", the postcode you type is sent directly from your browser to Octopus Energy's public electricity-region lookup, not to this site.
  • Technical information: the hosting provider (Netlify) keeps standard server logs. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are set.
  • Visit statistics, only if you allow them: see analytics cookies below.

Who receives it

  • Formspree processes form submissions and delivers them to the publisher, under its privacy policy.
  • Quote requests are answered by the publisher by email. They are not passed to installers or sold, and the publisher receives no fee from an installer for them at present.
  • Contact-form messages that are not quote requests are answered by the publisher in the same way.
  • Google provides Google Analytics, which receives visit statistics only if you allow analytics cookies.
  • Your information is not sold to anyone else, not added to marketing lists, and not shared beyond the service providers needed to run the site.

Analytics cookies

The first time you visit, a small message asks whether the site may count your visit. Nothing is measured until you choose.

  • If you press Allow, the site loads Google Analytics 4, provided by Google. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) so it can tell a returning browser from a new one, and records which pages are viewed and when a quote or contact form has been sent. The site uses this to see which pages are useful and to count enquiries.
  • It is not used for advertising. Google signals is switched off, the analytics property is not linked to any advertising account, and advertising storage is set to denied. Event data is kept for two months.
  • If you press No thanks, or ignore the message, no analytics script loads and no analytics cookie is set.
  • You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Choosing No thanks after allowing deletes the analytics cookies from this site.

Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (under the name bsq-analytics), which is not sent to the site or to Google. The lawful basis for analytics is your consent.

Lawful basis

Answering your quote request and other messages, and running the site, rely on the publisher's legitimate interests. You can ask for your enquiry to be deleted at any time through the contact form. If requests are ever passed to installers in future, this notice will say so first and ask for your consent.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept by the publisher for up to 24 months and then deleted or anonymised. Nothing is passed to installers at present.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see your information, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its use, and receive a portable copy. Make a request through the contact form. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
